Kid Dynamite looks to have a exciting campaign ahead of him after storming home from last to score a first-up win at Seymour.
The gelding had some issues last spring but could not have been more impressive with the way his circled the field and finished with a full head of steam to land the Yarran BM56 Ha (1000m).
A notoriously slow beginner, he began better on Monday before drifting back to the rear of the field with apprentice Sarah Field riding him patiently, 2 lengths tailed off in the early stages.
Hooked out wide near the 500 metres, Kid Dynamite quickly made ground and was widest near the outside rail entering the straight.
Under hands and heels riding, the $2.50 favourite effortlessly swamped the leaders and coasted home nearly a length ahead of Bronco Revolution ($31) and Magic Leprechaun ($7).
“He had some issues last prep, but we gave him a good spell and he’s come back in great order,” Trainer Vincent Malady said.
“He had trialled up well before today and to win like he did was very encouraging.”
Sarah had ridden Kid Dynamite in his two recent trials and was thrilled to have a race ride on the Hallowed Crown gelding.
“He’s a beautiful horse and that was a very easy win,” Sarah said.
“He’s so lightly raced, and when he hit the front so quickly, he was having a little bit of a look around.
“He just did it so easily and that he’ll get a lot of give confidence from the win.”
Kid Dynamite has raced seven times for two wins and two minor placings, having won his maiden at Donald a year ago.
