Malady Racing has continued to work wonders with former Sydney galloper Holy Heart after the posted his second straight victory in brilliant fashion at Ararat.
Holy Heart made his way to Malady Racing’s Geelong base after starting his career with the Gai Waterhouse stable at Randwick but has already shown himself to be a terrific member of his new team.
Malady gave Holy Heart a run at Echuca to build his fitness ahead of his strong second up win in Rating 58 company at Warracknabeal on September 9.
Holy Heart tackled Rating 62 company in the China Bowl 11/11 Handicap (1200m) but turned in an even better performance in his $15,000 assignment.
Apprentice Josh Cartwright stuck with Holy Heart at Ararat. The son of Holy Roman Emperor jumped brilliantly from the gates to find the early lead easily but at a fair tempo.
Cartwright gave Holy Heart a pair of cheap sectionals midrace, giving the four-year-old every chance to produce a finishing burst in the straight.
Holy Heart sprinted impressively when Cartwright asked him to hit his top at the 300 metres. The gelding quickly put a good break on his opposition before scoring by 2-3/4 lengths.
The win was Holy Heart’s third from just eight starts with the $9000 winner’s cheque taking his prizemoney to $36,000.
Congratulations to Holy Heart’s owners – T G Scanlon, A D Patterson, O L Smith, P A Toleman, P F Rocash, W McTaggart, T R McKenzie, D Radcliffe, P Maddock, A W Saltalamacchia & B J Hellard.
